Centro per lo Studio dell'Arteriosclerosi e delle Malattie Dismetaboliche "GC Descovich" is a University centre that acts as a public research body and hospital health care unit. The Centre is devoted to promote, co-ordinate and develop scientific research in the biomedical field and health sciences, as well as to provide health care and train research. The Atherosclerosis Centre "GC Descovich" is a local-government-recognised unit of research formed by a group of epidemiologists, biologists, cardiologists, geriatrics and mathematics who are working parallel on the study of different aspects of atherosclerosis, risk factors, clinical consequences and epidemiology in Italy. In the last and future years we are committed to study the atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease prevention, genetics and therapy of hyperlipoproteinemias, lipoprotein metabolism, diet therapy (in preventive and community medicine, in genetic hyperlipoproteinemia therapy), mathematical modelling for HLP study, hyperlipoproteinemia classification and diagnosis, soy protein diet and other special diets, centenarians study, CHD- protective life-styles.
