The IMIM is a public research institute developing basic, clinical and epidemiological research in biomedical sciences. IMIM is an IMAS's (Institut Municipal d'Assistencia Sanitaria) centre that acts as a public research body and is accredited as a University Institute linked to Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The Lipid and Cardiovascular Research Unit is a local-government-recognized high-level Unit of Research formed by a group of cardiologists, biochemists, bioestaticiens, epidemiologists, internists and vascular surgeons. The main lines of research at present consist on 8 on-going financed research projects on epidemiological and clinical aspects of atherosclerosis and on risk modification of cardiovascular disease including diet and lipid oxidation with several studies on the antioxidant effect of olive oil consumption. The Pharmacology Research Centre. The unit is a local-government-recognized high-level Unit of Research. The Unit laboratory is accredited both by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1985, and the Association of Racing Chemists (AORC), since 1994. It has long experience in pharmacokinetic studies of drugs and other xenobiotics. The unit also develops analytical methods for the study of phenolic compounds, pharmakinetics, metabolism and metabolite elimination. Contact |
